The Newton Public School District is a K-12 District with an enrollment of approximately 1,700 students spread over our elementary, middle and high schools. The high school is comprised of Newton residents as well as students from neighboring Andover and Green Townships. The Newton Public Schools have, as their special mission, the education of the "whole child". The social and emotional well-being of our students is as important as their academic achievement to us. We believe that children who are experiencing problems deserve special help and attention from the school. We provide specially trained staff to assist with the unique needs of each child. The precursor to active learning is a healthy, happy condition. We must take care of basic needs before we can expect to learn in school. We do not attempt to take the place of the home, but we do attempt to provide a safe haven for children. Our schools are friendly, warm places. Our staff reaches out to our students. We believe that teachers and parents must form partnerships in order to help children best, and to that end, we also reach out to parents. We believe in celebrating the successes of our students, whether these occur on the ball field, in the classroom, on stage or at a work experience. Success is an unlimited commodity. Each child can, and should, experience success. Developing the talents of tomorrow's leaders is a responsibility we feel deeply. The Newton Public Schools emphasize the importance of developing an array of skills that enable students to become happy and productive in their work, their community, and in their personal lives.
